Online Safeguarding Training
The Church of England National Safeguarding Learning Portal provides access to core safeguarding training and some specialist safeguarding courses.
Creating your Safeguarding Training Portal account
Before you can access your safeguarding training, you will need to create an account on the Church of England Safeguarding Training Portal.
Step 1: Create your account
Create a new account
Step 2: Complete the registration form
You will be asked to provide:
- A username
- A password
- Your email address
- Your first and last name
- Your Diocese
- Cathedral information (select “Not involved at a cathedral” if this does not apply to you)
- Training Institution information (select “Not part of” if this does not apply to you)
Fields marked as required must be completed before you can continue. When you have completed the form, click ‘Create My New Account’.
Step 3: Confirm Your Email Address
Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email to activate your account.
If the email does not arrive within one hour, contact the helpdesk elearning@mail.safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org.

Enrolling onto a Safeguarding course
Once your account has been created and your email address confirmed, you are ready to enrol onto your safeguarding training courses.
Finding Your Course
After logging in, select ‘Online Courses‘ from the home page or use the Courses menu. You will then be able to view the courses available to you. Follow the on-screen instructions to enrol on the course you require.
Leadership Training
If you are enrolling on the Leadership Pathway, please follow these steps:
Step 1 Select Leadership from the Courses section.
Step 2 Scroll down until you find Sheffield and click on it.
Step 3 Click ‘Apply Now‘
Step 4 Choose how you would like to attend your group session(s): Online or In Person. Then select the group you would like to join and click ‘Next‘.
Step 5 Complete the Additional Information questions and click ‘Next‘.
Step 6 Read and accept the Terms and Conditions.
Step 7 Click ‘Submit Application‘.
Your application will then be processed and you will receive further information about your training.

Specialist awareness training on modern slavery and human trafficking. Access course
Face-to-Face Alternatives
If you are unable to complete training online, face-to-face options are available at Church House or within your parish.
It is essential to complete the booking form below for any face-to-face course delivered at Church House and for the Parish Safeguarding Officer Induction which will be delivered through Zoom.
