Children and Families Area Co-ordinator for the Centenary Project

One post across the diocese working from Church House.

Part of the Centenary Project in the Diocese of Sheffield

17.5 hours per week.

Salary: £25,017 per annum for 35 hours/week.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Diocese of Sheffield as an Area Coordinator for the Centenary Project, as we prepare to expand this already successful project to see young people, children and families engage in local expressions of church.  

You will play a key role in the expansion of project, working with local parishes to shape this ministry, and supporting the workers through learning networks, training and mentoring.

We are looking for an experienced  children’s  and families worker who has experience in project planning, recruiting, training, mentoring, leading and shaping local ministry.  You must be able to work in a wide variety of church contexts and have experience in fund-raising and monitoring growth.  Come and be a part of the Diocese’s exciting work with parishes and Mission Partnerships to see children, young people and families connecting with the church.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • To develop a support group, including creating a pool of resources and training for children’s and families workers.
  • To mentor train and set objectives for a group of Centenary Project Workers (CPWs) and interns with responsibilities for ministry with children and families
  • To work with the Centenary Project Manager to facilitate the application process with parishes or mission partnerships.
  • To support and assist the Centenary Project Manager.

The role will require evening and weekend work.

Given the nature and context of the work it is an occupational requirement that the post holder should be a communicant member of the Church of England or a full member of a church within Churches Together in Britain and Ireland

Contract:       3 years initially

Centenary Project Internship

Part of the Centenary Project in the Diocese of Sheffield

Flexible hours, (min 13) for one year.

Salary: living wage for the hours that you work.

This is an opportunity to join the Diocese of Sheffield’s exciting initiative, The Centenary Project, as an intern.  

We are looking for a committed Christian who is seeking the opportunity to gain experience and training in youth and/or children’s and families work, whilst discerning God’s call in a prayerful and supportive environment.

General responsibilities: -

  • You will choose a training option to follow while gaining work experience, to provide you with a strong foundation for your future employment.
  • You will work alongside an experienced Centenary Project Worker in a parish setting, serving in youth and/or children’s and families ministry.
  • You will be a member of the Centenary Project Network and attend 1:1 mentoring with an experienced practitioner.

Given the nature and context of the work it is an occupational requirement that the post holder should be a communicant member of the Church of England or a full member of a church within Churches Together in Britain and Ireland.

Contract:       1 year
