Hope Weekend 2024 highlights

Hope Weekend 2024 was full of fun and fellowship, with lots of young people taking part across the Diocese of Sheffield.

The weekend, hosted by the Centenary Project, Diocese of Sheffield and youth workers, was opened up across South Yorkshire and the East Riding following the successful return of Hope Doncaster in 2023.

This year the tagline “YOUNG FAITH IN ACTION” was emphasised to help young people take ownership of their faith (however big or small it is) and taking steps to show it outwardly. The events started on Friday (21st June) with a launch event, where people gathered together for sung worship, prayer activities, shared food together and commissioned (send out) the young people.

On Saturday (22nd June) individual youth groups arranged their own social action projects to meet the need of the communities they gather in. This ranged from litter picks, a fun day, organising a Foodbank collection, joining with the local council for a community project or anything that would serve the local area. Cards were provided to hand out to people, letting know why they were taking part in Hope Weekend. Then in the evening, we encourage you to celebrate with your young people. Celebration evenings were then held later on.

On Sunday people were encouraged to go back to their churches to share stories from the Saturday with their congregations.
