This retreat is offered for anyone wanting time out with God, whether you’ve been on a retreat before or would like to try one out for the first time. The retreat house and its surroundings offer us a beautiful and relaxing space for prayer and reflection.
The retreat begins at 6pm for the evening meal on Friday 24 and ends after lunch on Sunday 26 April.
Much of it will be in silence but you’ll be free to use the time as you choose. If you want any guidance, there will be suggestions, including Bible passages and other items to meditate on and ideas for using art materials to help you engage with God. You might just want to slow down with some other relaxing activity or sense God’s presence in the nearby countryside.
There will also be opportunities to talk with a retreat guide about what you’re experiencing, if you wish, and there will be optional times for prayer together.
The retreat house is very comfortable, set in a large garden in a leafy area of Ilkley with woodland walks and moorland nearby.
The event is being organised by the Bishop of Sheffield’s Spirituality Adviser’s team.
The cost is £250, payable at the time of booking, and covers everything, including accommodation and meals. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
