We long to see more children, families and young people as part of our worshipping communities, but how do we get to know them, love them, serve them and walk with them?

The Aurora Training Courses in Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry are designed for volunteers, interns or newly appointed paid workers with no formal qualification in children’s or youth work to grow in their understanding of mission, discipleship and ministry. These courses are in line with the diocesan strategy, equipping you to be a Light for Christ as you shine God’s light.

The courses run in parallel across eight months each year, starting in September and finishing in May each year. We are currently running a mixed mode course – with our Saturday sessions in person at Church House, Rotherham and our Wednesday evenings on Zoom.

Students are invited to work towards a Diocese of Sheffield Certificate in Children or Youth Ministry and those based in Anglican settings may seek the Bishop’s Authorisation as Children or Youth Ministers in their parish.

The courses cost £250 per student, but you may apply for a bursary or discount if a number from the same church enrol.
