Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands and Priest in Charge of the Parishes of Bilham, Barnburgh-with-High Melton and Adwick-upon-Dearne

The new Priest in Charge of these two rural benefices in a beautiful area of South Yorkshire will serve as our new Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands

The Bishop of Doncaster seeks an imaginative, visionary priest who has a heart for discerning and developing vocations in this Diocese where the growth in the number of Ordinands has made this appointment essential.

This post could suit a man or woman seeking to develop skills in fostering and nurturing vocations, or someone wishing to invest significant ministry experience into the growth of future leaders.

A full time stipend will support this ministry under Common Tenure as Priest in Charge of two rural benefices comprising seven ancient and beautiful parish churches, all in good condition. Enthusiastic teams of lay people will support the new ministry, and the two benefices have worked together to reduce to one Sunday Eucharist in each benefice.

This will enable the new priest to concentrate on developing the mission of the parishes whilst serving the wider church through vocations guidance work. The successful candidate need not necessarily have previous rural ministry experience, but must be willing to listen to and learn the rhythms of life in these relatively prosperous rural communities.

The Rectory at Barnburgh, the largest of the villages, is provided, and is within easy reach of Diocesan Church House and roads leading out into the wider Diocese.

For an informal conversation about the post, please contact in the first instance the Archdeacon of Doncaster, Ven. Steve Wilcockson at the Archdeacons’ Office, Church House (01709 309110 or mobile 07799 874572), to whom completed applications and names of referees should also be sent to: archdeacons.office@sheffield.anglican.org

Closing Date for Applications: Wednesday 17th May 2017

Date for Interviews: Wednesday 7th June 2017
