Praying for personal and community growth in our Diocese
Our vision is to see a generous & flourishing Diocese of Sheffield in 2025.
Our first priority is to develop a real reliance on the Spirit of God in prayer and worship and in the consecration of our lives, as individuals and communities.
We want to recruit and resource a Prayer Community of 2,025 members who make a daily commitment to:
- Say the Lord’s Prayer
- Read at least one Bible verse
- Say the Diocesan Vision Prayer
- Pray for Growth*

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.

Diocesan Vision Prayer
Living God,
Jesus calls his followers to seek first your Kingdom.
Renew us as we make your love known;
Release us to share freely together in mission;
and Rejuvenate us to be fruitful in your service.
Give us courage, wisdom and compassion,
that strengthened with the grace of the Holy Spirit,
we may, as the Diocese of Sheffield,
both flourish and grow through Christ our Lord.

Praying for Growth
Praying that more than 2.5% of the population of the diocese will be part of our worshipping community and that other Christian denominations will also grow in size.

Prayer community WhatsApp Channel
What it is: The WhatsApp channel enables us to share prayers for current events or issues, so it provides a strategic addition to the other ways in which we share prayer needs. If you receive the weekly prayer email or are part of the Facebook group, you still need to join this WhatsApp channel to receive the updates. You can join the WhatsApp group, even if you do not receive the other prayer news feeds.

To access the WhatsApp Channel: Content for this does not appear alongside other senders in your chats as it is a Channel. At the foot of your WhatsApp screen, click the tab called ‘Updates’. You should then find ‘Diocese of Sheffield Prayer Community’.
Click on the Channel to see latest posts. Note that channel notifications will default to ‘off’. If you want to be notified when something new appears in the channel you will need to change this setting toggling the bell on the top right of the channel.
We will aim to post 2-4 times per week, depending on the current prayer needs, so please keep checking the channel regularly
