Mission Incubators encouraging new projects in the Diocese of Sheffield

Rotherham Minster

Earlier this month sixteen people from six churches across the Diocese gathered at Church House to explore ‘how to’ sessions in small, facilitated groups. Each evening there were three options for discussion depending on where people were at on their journey. These sessions are a chance for lay and/or ordained leaders to talk through their ideas for mission with people very experienced in the field.

Group 1 was for those who wanted to do something but weren’t sure what; Group 2 was for those who had a vision for mission but weren’t sure how to get it off the ground and finally group 3 was for those who had started, but needed some help tweaking their plans to be more effective. The sessions, with a short input at the start to help identify which group would be most helpful, lasted about an hour and half and concluded with prayer for each other.

The next two sessions will run in the Spring; look out for the dates and you can join in once or every time, whatever suits your situation. In the meantime, why not come to our ‘Now for Starters 2022’ event at Rotherham Minster, 7:30pm 10th November? >> Starting New Things: Now for Starters 2022 Tickets, Thu 10 Nov 2022 at 19:30 | Eventbrite

Mission Development Advisor John Marsh said:

“It was so encouraging to see so many people engaged in really useful discussion around their vision and practice of mission. It really does feel as if we a building fresh momentum in Starting New Things in the Diocese.”

Rev Phil McKenning is a Curate for Resurrection Doncaster, and described the sessions as “fun, worshipful, practical, insightful and challenging. All grounded in the power and work of God.”
