Details

**POSTPONED until next year – details to follow**

A unique opportunity to surround the borough in prayer while cycling one of three scenic routes and connecting with local churches along the way.

In March, Christians across the whole of Rotherham Borough united to pray for the people in their communities. Using a prayer-mapping app, they prayed over an astonishing 97% of the streets in the borough. Church leaders have now committed to doing the same again in March 2026.

The Rotherham Boundary Cycle and Pray comes six months after Arise Rotherham 2025. It aims to keep up this momentum of prayer. We are looking for people to cycle with us. This can be the full 52-mile circuit or one of the shorter routes (10 or 22 miles), as we aim to surround our borough with prayer. If you would like to take part, fill in the form below and we will contact you.

We are inviting local churches along the route to host prayer gatherings throughout the day, which the cycling groups will join as they pass.

What to Expect

  • Circular routes – full (52 miles), medium (22 miles), and short (10 miles)
  • Prayer stops at local churches along the way
  • Event T-shirts available for a £10 donation (yours to keep!)
  • Full information, including route maps and timings, will be sent out before the event
  • Group leaders and route briefings will be provided
  • A safe, supportive atmosphere with a spirit of shared purpose

Who Can Take Part?

To take part, you must:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Be medically fit and enter at your own risk
  • Have a roadworthy bike and wear a helmet
  • Obey the Highway Code, respect other road users and avoid headphones while riding
  • Agree that organisers cannot accept responsibility for loss, injury or property damage

We welcome riders of all abilities, but if you’re not used to long distances, we recommend doing a few practice rides of 10 to 20 miles in advance. The main route includes some hilly sections.

Safety and Support

  • All groups will have designated leaders
  • You’ll receive contact numbers and a route briefing on the day
  • Please let us know if you need to leave the ride early
  • We aim to have a backup vehicle available for mechanical or medical issues
  • A full risk assessment will be in place under our Public Liability Insurance

What to Bring

  • A packed lunch and plenty of water
  • Emergency snacks (energy bars, gels, etc.)
  • A roadworthy bike and helmet
  • Spare clothes (a change in case of rain is recommended!)
  • Event T-shirt

In Case of Cancellation

In the unlikely event of severe weather requiring cancellation, we will contact participants by 12 noon on 26 September via email and/or text. If it’s just a bit wet, bring a raincoat!
