Diocese of Sheffield Bondo trip to strengthen relationships and grow global faith

There are plans to strengthen relationships and grow faith between the Diocese of Sheffield and the Diocese of Bondo ahead of a delegation trip.

The Bishop of Doncaster, the Rt Revd Sophie Jelley, is travelling with Diocesan Director of Education Huw Thomas and Centenary Project Worker (St John’s, Owlerton) Sophie Boughton. The trip is planned from 27 April to the 4 May, with a return visit from Bondo planned in July (10-18th). The group’s commitment to net zero remains, and the flights will be offset accordingly.

The main aims of the week in Bondo are to learn from our Bondo friends, link with our schools, share a commitment of faith, help to grow the faith globally and share the work of the Centenary Project with children and young people.

The schedule includes Mother’s Union engagements, school visits, a cathedral confirmation service at which Bishop Sophie will lead and preach, a wedding at which the group will be guests and a Sunday school teachers’ conference.

Bishop Sophie said:

“This is a key time to grow our relationship in the light of the challenges we face around the environment, but it also develops the commitment made at Lambeth Conference to be ‘God’s Church for God’s world’. Please pray for us and we will be praying for you as we take your greetings to our brothers and sisters in Bondo.”
