Dan Christian Appointed Head of Vocations for the Church of England

The Revd Dr Dan Christian has been appointed as the new Head of Vocations and Discernment for the national Church of England team.

Dan, who has served as the Diocese of Sheffield’s Director of Vocations and Diocesan Director of Ordinands since 2021, will commence his new role on Monday 4 January 2027. Since July 2026, Dan has been working on secondment in his role as Interim Head of Vocations for two days per week, and this will continue until the end of 2026. 

Dan has served in parish ministry in Sheffield and County Durham. He is passionate about every disciple of Christ growing deeper in the call of Christ that begins at baptism. Before ordination he was a RS teacher and whilst training at Wycliffe Hall he completed a doctorate entitled, ‘Satire in the Old Testament’. Alongside his ministry, he teaches Old Testament and Biblical Hebrew at St Hild College. Dan is married to Laura, a consultant oncologist and they have two boys. In his spare time, he loves swimming, cricket and seeing Coventry City back in the Premier league again!
