Bishop Pete visited Tankersley St Peter’s C of E Primary School last week for a wonderful morning of worship, music and Bible study.
During his visit, Bishop Pete met pupils and staff, chatted with members of the Worship Council, enjoyed a tour of the school and joined Key Stage 2 children for a special collective worship focusing on the Book of Ruth. The children had been exploring this inspiring biblical story during their weekly Bible study sessions and were delighted to have the opportunity to share their learning and ask Bishop Pete questions about the story and his role as a bishop.
A particular highlight was the school’s enthusiastic pupil worship band, who performed Holy Forever and Still, helping to create a joyful and reflective atmosphere.
Yvette Cooper, the school’s RE, Worship and Music Coordinator, said:
“It was a real privilege to welcome Bishop Pete to our school. The children have thoroughly enjoyed studying the Book of Ruth, which has inspired some wonderfully thoughtful discussions about faith, loyalty, kindness and belonging. Music is also such an important part of our worship and I was very proud of our young musicians, their skill and their enthusiasm.”
The visit was a memorable and inspiring occasion for the whole school community, celebrating the importance of faith, music and learning together.
