DDO - Diocesan Director of Ordinands

The Diocesan Director of Ordinands is the Revd Canon Dr Joanne Grenfell. She, under the Bishop, has oversight of the selection and training of ordination candidates. Her role is to work with men and women who sense that God may be calling them to ordained ministry.

For candidates who are exploring self-supporting ministry, she also works with the Revd Canon Jane Bolton and the Revd Stephen Hunter who are the Self-Supporting Ministry Officer and Adviser.

There is also an Assistant Director of Ordinands, the Revd Mary Gregory, and a team of Vocations Advisers.

Together they work with potential ordinands to explore their calling and discern the right path. When the time is right, Joanne, Mary, Jane or Stephen will work with candidates towards an interview with a Local Selection Panel before meeting with the Bishop to discuss sponsorship for a Bishop’s Advisory Panel (BAP).

If you believe that God may be calling you to be ordained (or any other) ministry, you should first contact your parish priest. He or she will talk you through the process and may advise you to get in touch with the Diocesan Director of Ordinands.
