Your training as a Reader does not stop on the day that you are licensed. It is important that all Readers continue to learn and develop in their skills. Ongoing Ministerial Development (OMD) is provided by the diocese and Readers should try to attend as many of these monthly sessions as possible.
OMD events take place regularly at Church House in Rotherham and online during the winter months. Video recordings are made of some of the presentations and posted on our YouTube channel.

Courses held outside of the Diocese often come with a cost and if these are residential then the cost may be quite high. Readers can apply for financial help for these courses from both the Adams Myland fund, provided by the Central Readers Council, or the Pamela Richardson Fund (see below), provided by the Diocese of Sheffield.
Readers can also apply for a grant from Whirlow Grange. These grants to individuals are primarily given for training and ongoing development in spiritual accompaniment, personal spiritual development, support for attending retreats and other aspects of personal Christian education and development.
