Bishop's PA to Leave Her Role

5th June 2018

The Bishop of Sheffield, Pete Wilcox, is sad to announce the departure of his PA, Lisa Gibbons at the end of June 2018.
Lisa has worked at Bishopscroft for 10 years serving Bishop Pete, and Bishop Steven Croft before him.

Speaking about her departure, Lisa said:

“It has been a really hard decision leaving a job that has been such a big part of my life, but I feel now is the right time to move on.  I have had a difficult 12 months with the care and eventual heart breaking loss of my father earlier this year.  This, combined with other pressures, means I feel I need to take time out to refresh myself, spend time with family, and regroup for whatever my next role may be.  I will miss speaking with everyone, and will miss the buzz of diocese life, really though, I  just want to thank Bishop Pete for being so gracious and kind with the news so early in his tenure”.

Bishop Pete Wilcox commented:

“The whole Diocese owes Lisa an enormous debt of gratitude for the contribution she has made as the Senior Personal Secretary to the Bishop of Sheffield, during Bishop Steven’s tenure, during the vacancy, and over the course of the last twelve months.  I can vouch first hand for her dedication, servant-heartedness, good humour and high standards.  She has been a huge support to me since my appointment, and in ways which are not necessarily visible to everyone and which perhaps only the members of the Bishop’s senior staff team will fully understand.  So I have quickly developed a whole-hearted appreciation of and affection for her.  She will be sorely missed by me and the rest of the Bishopscroft staff team and she will be tough to replace.  So I am personally extremely grateful to her, but I also want to express thanks to her on your behalf.  Those of you who have had dealings with Lisa personally over DBS checks or appointments with the Bishop or whatever will know what a hard act she will be to follow.  We wish her every blessing in the next stage of her life and work.  Please hold her in your prayers, as well as the recruitment process for her successor.”

The Rt Revd Steven Croft, Bishop of Oxford said:

“Lisa brought warmth, good sense and great organisation to the Bishop of Sheffield’s office. I know she will be missed by everyone who worked with her”.

Bishopscroft will now be arranging temporary cover for the summer months while a long term appointment is made.
