SUMMARY:Peter Marlow: The English Cathedral
Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Sheffield Cathedral\, UK\, the oldest building in Sheffield still in daily use\, will host Peter Marlow: The English Cathedral\, the next stage of an ambitious tour of works by the late Magnum photographer\, Peter Marlow.  This free photographic exhibition chronicling all 42 naves of England’s Anglican cathedrals\, will be on show from 2 June – 1 July 2026 in the North Transept of the Cathedral during general cathedral opening times. \nOrganised by the Peter Marlow Foundation\, the charity set up to continue Peter’s legacy\, the aim is that this ethereal collection of images will exhibit at each of the 42 cathedrals he visited on his photographic pilgrimage across England. Sheffield Cathedral is the 28th of the 42 cathedrals to host the exhibition\, which is in the 11th year of its ongoing tour. The exhibition\, Peter Marlow: The English Cathedral\, invites visitors to embark on a visual journey through the lens of Peter Marlow\, capturing the essence of the Cathedral in a play of natural light with all modern artificial lighting turned off.  Peter’s photographic portrait of Sheffield Cathedral highlights the fascinating architectural hybrid of the building\, showcasing over 800 years of design. It blends a medieval parish core with significant Tudor extensions and extensive mid-20th-century modernist additions\, most notably its striking Lantern Tower and geometric stained glass which can be seen at the centre of Peter’s image. \nFor more details\, visit: Peter Marlow: The English Cathedral
Exhibition — Sheffield Cathedral

SUMMARY:Young Leaders' Community Workshop: Public Speaking and Preaching
DESCRIPTION:This is an exciting opportunity for young people aged between 10 and 18 to learn more about speaking and preaching. \nThe workshop is being lead by Revd Amy Hole\, Vicar of Heeley Parish Church. It will be held at Sheffield Cathedral\, and will run from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday 13 June\, with pastries and lunch included. \nDuring the workshop\, we’ll look at how to write a talk from a passage in the Bible and how to present and speak in front of a group of people. This session isn’t just for those who want to preach in church or youth group – we’ll also be learning public speaking skills and speech-writing skills\, so it would be great for young people who are interested in public speaking\, or for young people who might want to lead or help lead a Bible study in youth group\, Christian Union or somewhere else. \nYouth leaders are welcome to accompany young people to this session\, but young people can also attend without a youth leader. \nPlease register below to let us know that you’re coming. \nIf you are registering a young person who is not already a member of the Young Leaders’ Community\, please could you also complete the Young Leaders’ Community registration and consent form (link opens in new tab) so that we have the correct information to keep them safe at the event. If you have any questions\, please get in touch with Rachel Baker\, Young Leaders’ Community Enabler: rachel.baker@sheffield.anglican.org) \n\n	Notice: JavaScript is required for this content.

What began 30 years ago as a breakfast served by the congregation at Sheffield Cathedral has grown into a multifaceted range of services to support individuals who need it the most. Escaping homelessness is not just about getting off the street – to break the cycle\, individuals must receive support at every stage back into paid employment. In 2023\, The Archer Project supported 1\,103 individuals on their journey out of homelessness. \nASSIST\nASSIST works alongside people in Sheffield who have been refused asylum in the UK. People in this situation do not have the right to work\, housing\, benefits or other vital forms of support\, and typically find themselves pushed into destitution and homelessness. ASSIST works with them to remove these barriers\, providing accommodation\, welfare payments\, bus passes and a bespoke casework service\, through which clients are referred to vital legal advice and signposted to opportunities to build community links and improve their wellbeing. The work of ASSIST is possible thanks to the generosity of its volunteers and supporters. \nDoncaster Refurnish\nDoncaster Refurnish is a small charitable organisation that provides community benefit in South Yorkshire\, using the medium of recycling furniture and household goods to train and develop people. They promote the ethos of recycling and environmentally sustainable living by collecting and restoring furniture to sell at affordable prices\, preventing hundreds of tonnes of functional items from going to landfill every year. They also provide furniture\, household goods\, food parcels\, medicine delivery and handyman services in times of crisis. Refurnish also works in partnership with HMP Hatfield on projects with prisoners\, helping them learn key skills to aid rehabilitation and resettlement.

SUMMARY:Clergy Open Day
DESCRIPTION:The Bishop of Sheffield invites you to a 24-hour event for clergy to explore our vision\, strategy and forthcoming vacancies. \nThere is no denying it: these are challenging times in the Diocese of Sheffield. And yet\, they are also deeply hopeful and exciting times. Few doubt that by 2031 the Church of England in South Yorkshire and the East Riding will look very different from how it does today. What that future will look like is not yet fully clear but what is clear is our shared desire for renewal\, change\, the joyful task of sharing with all people the hope we have in Jesus Christ\, and for the coming of the kingdom of God. \nIn 2025 we launched a refreshed and ambitious version of our Diocesan Strategy\, seeking to be renewed\, released and rejuvenated by God’s grace and in Christ’s service. A diocesan-wide consultation sent a clear message: we must increase our emphasis on seeking the welfare of our local communities while retaining the heart of the 3Rs and the Diocesan Vision Prayer. This refreshed strategy reflects that calling. \nAlong with our refresh strategy we have received a significant funding award from national church to support our mission and ministry across South Yorkshire and the East Riding. \nWe’d love to invite you to hear more and consider whether you might be called to join us in this adventure. \nTo book your place – or ask for more details\, email: dominique.horsfield@sheffield.anglican.org. \nPlease share this invitation with any clergy friends or colleagues who might be interested in joining us. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered.

SUMMARY:Creating Churches of Healing and Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:How can we make our churches places of learning\, where we intentionally build cultures of welcome and share that learning with others? Led by Revd Inderjit Bhogal\, OBE\, founder member of the City of Sanctuary Movement. The morning will finish with a Healing Eucharist. \nThe Ministry of Healing includes healing of our communities and the fabric of the nation. On this reflective day we will explore how in our churches we can build healing communities of warmth and sanctuary\, places of genuine welcome for all where we respond to the biblical mandate to welcome the stranger. \nWe will explore the idea of Church of Sanctuary\, and engaging with refugees. This is a faith-based initiative\, rooted in scripture and history\, a call to prophetic Christian witness. It is an expression of hospitality as a clear challenge to hostility. \nThe aim is to go beyond being a welcoming church\, to take steps to build protective hospitality in ways that express mutual solidarity and safeguarding\, fostering warm welcome\, protective hospitality\, healing and safety for all\, without neglecting any vulnerable people\, and especially for people fleeing violence and persecution\, a clear demonstration of Christian discipleship. \nSign up\n\n	Notice: JavaScript is required for this content.
