SUMMARY:Deliverance Ministry
DESCRIPTION:A Leadership Formation Event\n\nComplex pastoral situations often involve a delicate interplay between the psychological and the spiritual\, with wisdom needed as to how to approach each case. Certain situations may raise questions about a need for deliverance. \nDeliverance is recognised as a specialist ministry in the Church of England\, for which our diocese has a specially trained team\, commissioned by Bishop Pete and led by Canon Mark Brown as Bishop’s Advisor. \nThis event will explore the biblical and theological basis for deliverance ministry today\, along with House of Bishops’ guidance for this area of ministry. Safeguarding and mental health issues will also be considered\, using practical examples as appropriate. \nLed by Mark Brown\, along with Dr Ann Richards and Professor Chris Cook\, both leading members of the national CofE Deliverance Ministry team. They will be available for further consultation after lunch\, for those who wish to stay on and make use of this opportunity. \nTravel details: St Barts is just above the Langsett Road tram and bus stops\, buses include the number 57\, 81 & 82.  If travelling by car please note satnav may direct you to Primrose Hill off Whitehouse Lane but there is no vehicle access this way.  On Langsett Road\, continue straight on and take the third left onto Primrose Hill.  Here you will find limited parking.  Further on street parking is available on Langsett Crescent. \nA Leadership Formation event for clergy and also lay ministers who are involved in prayer ministry. \n\nPlease note that bookings are now closed for this event.

DESCRIPTION:Church Explorers Week\, our Diocese’s church festival with a difference\, returns for 2026. Other ideas for participation are welcomed; this is also our opportunity to explore new ways of encouraging people to discover what our churches have to offer. Don’t hesitate to contact your Church Buildings Officer if you would like help and support in the planning or delivery of your open day. \nChurch Explorers Week is an opportunity for us to celebrate and showcase our churches and outdoor spaces\, putting them on the visitor map. It aims to encourage footfall and an appreciation of our unique places of worship through fun exploration and discovery. \nWe will look to categorise participation into 5 themes: History & Heritage\, Family Fun\, Outdoors & Nature\, Open Days\, and Music. \nLeading up to Church Explorers Week\, promotion of the initiative via our own communication channels\, social media\, and nearer the week in question\, a press release to local media.\nYour Mission Area Support Team are here to answer any questions. SUMMARY:Exciting Holiness: reflections on the Saints
DESCRIPTION:THE SOCIETY OF CATHOLIC PRIESTS (Sheffield Chapter) presents \nExciting Holiness: reflections on the Saints\nProgramme \n10:00 – Arrival with light refreshments \n10:30 – Eucharist \n11:00 – A short keynote address by Revd Dr Richard Walton\, Bishop’s Chaplain for Retired Clergy and their Spouses\, then members will give short reflections on their favourite saints \nThis is a Free event – but please email us to express interest… richard.walton@sheffield.cathedral.org.uk \nThe Society of Catholic Priests is a world-wide inclusive organisation\, with a European Province\, which we in the Diocese of Sheffield are part of. We take seriously the sacramental life of the Church and place the Eucharist at the centre of everything\, the sacrament of God-with-us. Part of our inclusive Catholic vision is the belief that God calls both women and men to receive the sacrament of ordination to the diaconate\, priesthood and episcopate. We celebrate humanity in all its God-given diversity and seek to ensure that the voices of LGBTQ+\, Black\, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Christians are heard\, understood and engaged with in the wider Church. The Sheffield Chapter – which includes Doncaster and Rotherham – meet four times a year to celebrate the Eucharist\, promote inclusive Anglo-Catholic spirituality and theology\, and support one another.

It’s open to young people aged 10-18 who are interested in leadership and would like to learn more about speaking and preaching. \nThe workshop is being lead by Revd. What began 30 years ago as a breakfast served by the congregation at Sheffield Cathedral has grown into a multifaceted range of services to support individuals who need it the most. Escaping homelessness is not just about getting off the street – to break the cycle\, individuals must receive support at every stage back into paid employment. In 2023\, The Archer Project supported 1\,103 individuals on their journey out of homelessness. \nASSIST\nASSIST works alongside people in Sheffield who have been refused asylum in the UK. People in this situation do not have the right to work\, housing\, benefits or other vital forms of support\, and typically find themselves pushed into destitution and homelessness. ASSIST works with them to remove these barriers\, providing accommodation\, welfare payments\, bus passes and a bespoke casework service\, through which clients are referred to vital legal advice and signposted to opportunities to build community links and improve their wellbeing. The work of ASSIST is possible thanks to the generosity of its volunteers and supporters. \nDoncaster Refurnish\nDoncaster Refurnish is a small charitable organisation that provides community benefit in South Yorkshire\, using the medium of recycling furniture and household goods to train and develop people. They promote the ethos of recycling and environmentally sustainable living by collecting and restoring furniture to sell at affordable prices\, preventing hundreds of tonnes of functional items from going to landfill every year. They also provide furniture\, household goods\, food parcels\, medicine delivery and handyman services in times of crisis. Refurnish also works in partnership with HMP Hatfield on projects with prisoners\, helping them learn key skills to aid rehabilitation and resettlement.

SUMMARY:Clergy Open Day
DESCRIPTION:The Bishop of Sheffield invites you to a 24-hour event for clergy to explore our vision\, strategy and forthcoming vacancies. \nThere is no denying it: these are challenging times in the Diocese of Sheffield. And yet\, they are also deeply hopeful and exciting times. Few doubt that by 2031 the Church of England in South Yorkshire and the East Riding will look very different from how it does today. What that future will look like is not yet fully clear but what is clear is our shared desire for renewal\, change\, the joyful task of sharing with all people the hope we have in Jesus Christ\, and for the coming of the kingdom of God. \nIn 2025 we launched a refreshed and ambitious version of our Diocesan Strategy\, seeking to be renewed\, released and rejuvenated by God’s grace and in Christ’s service. A diocesan-wide consultation sent a clear message: we must increase our emphasis on seeking the welfare of our local communities while retaining the heart of the 3Rs and the Diocesan Vision Prayer. This refreshed strategy reflects that calling. \nAlong with our refresh strategy we have received a significant funding award from national church to support our mission and ministry across South Yorkshire and the East Riding. \nWe’d love to invite you to hear more and consider whether you might be called to join us in this adventure. \nTo book your place – or ask for more details\, email: dominique.horsfield@sheffield.anglican.org. \nPlease share this invitation with any clergy friends or colleagues who might be interested in joining us. Bookings should be made by 12 May. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered.

SUMMARY:Creating Churches of Healing and Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:How can we make our churches places of learning\, where we intentionally build cultures of welcome and share that learning with others? Led by Revd Inderjit Bhogal\, OBE\, founder member of the City of Sanctuary Movement. The morning will finish with a Healing Eucharist. \nThe Ministry of Healing includes healing of our communities and the fabric of the nation. On this reflective day we will explore how in our churches we can build healing communities of warmth and sanctuary\, places of genuine welcome for all where we respond to the biblical mandate to welcome the stranger. \nWe will explore the idea of Church of Sanctuary\, and engaging with refugees. This is a faith-based initiative\, rooted in scripture and history\, a call to prophetic Christian witness. It is an expression of hospitality as a clear challenge to hostility. \nThe aim is to go beyond being a welcoming church\, to take steps to build protective hospitality in ways that express mutual solidarity and safeguarding\, fostering warm welcome\, protective hospitality\, healing and safety for all\, without neglecting any vulnerable people\, and especially for people fleeing violence and persecution\, a clear demonstration of Christian discipleship. \nSign up\n\n	Notice: JavaScript is required for this content.

SUMMARY:Unconscious Bias with Race Awareness
DESCRIPTION:We are all made in God’s image and are all equally precious to God. \nIn the Diocese of Sheffield\, we are committed to being a church that witnesses to this embracing love of God.  Being aware of our own biases can help us to be more open to recognising each other’s unique presence and gifts for building up the church. This training will bring a theological foundation to ground our response to all forms of discrimination; tools to identify our personal unconscious biases and micro-aggressions and will equip participants to be able to discuss issues more confidently. \nEveryone with a role or in a position of leadership (Clergy\, Church House staff\, PCC members\, Church Representatives\, Churchwardens\, Children/family/youth workers\, focal ministers\, lay readers\, evangelists\, welcome teams) is welcome. \nYou may have completed Unconscious bias training already\, and you do not need to do it again\, but you may choose to refresh. These are the three dates we have for 2026. \n\n\n\nSaturday 9 May\n9:30am – 12:30pm\nChurch House & Online\n\n\nWednesday 16 September\n7:00pm – 9:00pm\nOnline\n\n\nSaturday 7 November\n9:30am – 12:30pm\nChurch House\n\n\n\nTo make a separate booking for a local visit\, please contact: racial.justice@sheffield.anglican.org. \nSign up\n\n	Notice: JavaScript is required for this content.
