SUMMARY:Deanery Gatherings – Mutual Flourishing
DESCRIPTION:Mutual Flourishing is the Church of England’s commitment to ensuring that people who hold differing theological convictions\, particularly regarding the ordination of women\, can live\, minister\, and flourish together within one Church. \nAt the residential gathering in November 2025\, people from across the geographical and theological breadth of the Diocese of Sheffield came together to listen\, reflect\, and share their experiences of Mutual Flourishing. This term\, that conversation is being taken into each deanery. These visits will offer opportunities to continue the listening\, deepen understanding\, and reflect together on what it means to flourish as the Body of Christ amid our differences. \nEach visit includes time with the Deanery Chapter and an Open Event where all are welcome to attend. DESCRIPTION:We are all made in God’s image and are all equally precious to God. \nIn the Diocese of Sheffield\, we are committed to being a church that witnesses to this embracing love of God.  Being aware of our own biases can help us to be more open to recognising each other’s unique presence and gifts for building up the church. This training will bring a theological foundation to ground our response to all forms of discrimination; tools to identify our personal unconscious biases and micro-aggressions and will equip participants to be able to discuss issues more confidently. \nEveryone with a role or in a position of leadership (Clergy\, Church House staff\, PCC members\, Church Representatives\, Churchwardens\, Children/family/youth workers\, focal ministers\, lay readers\, evangelists\, welcome teams) is welcome. \nYou may have completed Unconscious bias training already\, and you do not need to do it again\, but you may choose to refresh. SUMMARY:Rural Church Matters
DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in rural communities\, rural churches or the rural economy? Come and help shape a rural network for the Diocese of Sheffield. Rural Church Matters is a chance for rural churches to come together and think about how we can better support one another and the rural world we work in. \nThe morning will include: \n\nan address by Howard Petch CBE\, a Yorkshireman and well-known agricultural educator who works with rural and farming charities\, including The Farming Community Network\, the Arthur Rank Centre and Yorkshire Churches Rural Business Support\ntime for each parish represented to tell us about itself\ndiscussion about how our churches matter to our communities\, and what you would like a rural church network to help with\nresources for rural churches and time to network\nlight refreshments during the morning\n\nRevd Philip Ball\, Vicar of Airmyn\, Hook and Rawcliffe\, will be licensed as the Bishop’s Rural Advisor by Bishop Pete during the event. Philip would like to get to know you\, begin to set up a Rural Churches Network in the diocese\, find people who can help advise him and hear what matters to you about rural life. SUMMARY:Breathe Deep
DESCRIPTION:Breathe Deep is a youth event targeted at Christian young people from all over the diocese to be a large expression of church together. Many young people who come are from smaller churches\, so to gather in large numbers brings another important dimension of God’s church\, in all its diversity! \nLeaders \nThe day is aimed at 11-18 year olds\, and we ask you to bring 1 leader for every 8 young people as you will be responsible for looking after them for the day. \nWe have created a consent form template you may wish to use with your young people. Please ensure you collect information concerning photo and video permission on the day. \nBooking Form \nOn the booking form you will be asked how many tickets you require for your group. You will then be asked for some details about the people in your group. For each of your young people you will need to have their FULL NAME and AGE. We advise you to gather this information for your group before you start to make your booking. Please ensure you complete all information in full as requested. \nPayments \nWe are offering two ticket prices for this event. To keep prices down\, we are offering a £7.50 ticket and also an £11 ticket if you or your young people are able to pay a little more. The tickets are the same in every way except the price. We hope some groups will opt to pay the £11 ticket to help us cover increasing costs to run the day\, but invite you to choose the £7.50 ticket if that would enable more young people to attend from your church. Leaders are encouraged to pay for a £11 ticket\, but we’ll leave that up to you\, and no one on the day will know what price you paid for your ticket. \nThe ticket price covers all the activities and food for the day. The day will also be supported financially by Sheffield Diocese. You must book and pay for your whole group before the event\, we want to avoid any payments on the day. Booking will close if we reach capacity.
