Youth & Children's resources
The diocese can provide a host of information, links and resources related to youth and children's ministry. Feel free to submit anything that isn't included! If the information required isn't here contact Mike North.
Images for Storytelling
The Diocese sell the 'Images for Storytelling' CDs at £40 each which contain artwork and outlines for making special wooden characters for Godly Play stories: Creation, Easter Faces, Parables, Ten Commandments, and World Communion. The CDs also contain order sheets for wooden Bowthorpe items (you will need to contact Bowthorpe for up to date prices). The Artwork is by Lena Papapanagiotou, and the disc contains individual files of each character, plus sheets of pictures and outlines which are actual sizes to fit on preformed shapes available from Bowthorpe or for you to make yourself.
To request a CD, please contact Mike North (firstname.lastname@example.org) and send a cheque payable to SDBF along with your address to:
Sheffield Diocesan Church House

BACs payments can also be accepted - please request details.
For many years the diocese has offered a separate Youth and Children’s Group Insurance through Ecclesiastical. Due to discounts no longer being available, and the fact that over the last few years there have been fewer and fewer parishes opting for this insurance, it has been decided to end this service. The present scheme for those currently insured ended on 31 December, 2013. Parishes could be fully insured through their Ecclesiastical Parishguard insurance. It is so important to be insured, so take time and get covered.
There are other insurance options, including the local council. Sheffield City Council has recently offered to help with groups struggling to insure their youth group activity. For more advice, Ecclesiastical can be contacted on: 0845 777 3322 (Mon – Fri, 8am – 6pm). Ask for the Church Team.
The Hollowford Trust
This fund aims to assist young people aged between 10 and 25 years who are resident in, or near the Diocese of Sheffield, to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capabilities, so that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society and so that their conditions of life may be improved. Individuals can receive up to £300 and groups up to £400. Application form and guidance notes.
Safeguarding of children and young people is taken extremely seriously. Read the full policy regarding Safeguarding here.
This trust is at the forefront of self-esteem work in Sheffield and across the UK, working with thousands of young people through their innovative projects in South Yorkshire, and their trained delivery partners across the British Isles. Their Girl's Course: “I’m The Girl I Want to Be!” is a chance for girls to get together, form great friendships, share opinions and talk about all the issues that affect them and interest them everyday..... appearance, fashion, TV, magazines, self-esteem, relationships, guys, sex, being single, feeling great about themselves and loads, loads, more. They also have a boys course called "Made of More" which is aimed at young men aged 11-18 to increase self-esteem, confidence, aspiration and life-skills through looking at 'what it means to be a man.'
