New Dean of Women's Ministry announced

27th July 2015

The Rt Revd Steven Croft, Bishop of Sheffield, is delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Abi Thompson as the Dean of Women’s Ministry in the Diocese of Sheffield.

Abi is the Vicar of St James Clifton in Rotherham.  She was ordained in the Sheffield Diocese and served her curacy in the Sheffield Manor Parish from 2006 to 2010 when she was appointed priest-in-charge of Clifton.   Abi takes over the role from 1 September succeeding the Revd Canon Mary Gregory who is leaving the diocese for a new parish in another diocese.

She will be licensed into the role at St James in the early autumn (date to be announced).

Bishop Steven said:

“I am very grateful to all who applied and assisted in the process.  I look forward very much to working with Abi in the future as part of the Bishop's Staff team.  Please hold her in your prayers as she takes on this key role in the life of the Diocese.”
