Helen Bent
Bishop’s Adviser in Music and Worship |
- Helen studied Music at Sheffield University, specialising in singing, piano and flute.
- She has many years experience as a teacher and freelance musician.
- She was ordained in Norwich Diocese, where she spent time researching the effect of the Ordination of Women to the Priesthood on the way we worship.
- Helen is married to David, Team Rector of the Rivers Team, so she remains rooted in a local parish taking regular services there. They have three grown up children.
- Helen is employed four days a week to develop music and worship in the Diocese.

Aims
- To encourage parishes in the Diocese to reach their full potential in worship, liturgy and music whilst recognising their churchmanships, traditions and styles.
- To encourage and train clergy and laity to develop their understanding and practice of worship, liturgy and music.
- To help resource and enable worship in parishes with limited resources.
- To help resource 'inspiring worship' in relation to mission.
- To work alongside others to provide music for a variety of parish, deanery or diocesan occasions.
