Funding your vision
An inspirational thought: "Fundraising is proclaiming what you believe in and proclaiming it in such a way as to offer others the opportunity to participate in your vision." Henry Nouwen
Many churches are involved in repair, renovation, re-ordering projects and/or activities which benefit their local communities.
When a church has a vision for refurbishment or for providing new community activities, finding the money to fund it can seem daunting, especially when the total cost may be many thousands - in some cases millions - of pounds. Often just knowing where to start when fundraising can be the biggest challenge.
Funding information and how to find out what is available can seem daunting but there are loads of websites, CD ROMs, directories, and books, some free and some by subscription that can help.
A great source of info on general grant making trusts and company giving is via the directory of social change. The web site is: www.dsc.org.uk and look under "publications". They sell books, directories of local and national trusts, CD ROMS and a searchable website of grant making trusts.
Free sources of funding information are:
www.ffhb.org.uk
Funds for Historic Buildings. This website has a database specifically for searching for funds for historic buildings
www.syfab.org.uk
South Yorkshire Funding Advice Bureau. A free funding search and support organisation for local community groups. They produce a regular newsletter, updates and downloadable information sheets, have some support workers and a free funding search service.

Searchable database and funding alert for government funding pots.
