Diocesan Conference & Spirituality Centre
In Search of Wholeness: A Healing Course
Led by Revd. Dr Russ Parker with Revd. Eileen Turner, this course will begin with a weekend workshop on 25th/26th May where participants will receive a course book to work on until the course closes with a further weekend on 28th/29th September.
It was Archbishop William Temple who said that a church without a healing ministry is only proclaiming half a Gospel. Yet we do need to ask the question “What is Christian Healing?” This is a practical training course which seeks to answer this question and offer some suggestions on safe and effective ways to engage in the Healing Ministry of Jesus Christ. It will become apparent that Christian Healing is a journey into wholeness which requires not only the pastoral gifts of the church but the skills of Hospital Chaplains and the skills of health professionals. This course will equip you with a foundational knowledge to engage your church in the caring of individuals and community.
Participants will have the option of either working through the course book on their own or submitting written assignments thus gaining the equivalent of 10 credits at HE level 1. (There will be an additional charge for this.)
The complete cost of this course is £220 residential/£140 non-residential. Price includes accommodation, meals, teaching and materials.

Welcome to our new look Whirlow Grange Christian Spirituality Centre programme for 2013! There is a wealth of opportunity and interest for you in the coming year. At the heart of our work, both at Whirlow and out and about in South Yorkshire, is the desire to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit and to explore the extraordinary Way of Christ. We are here to help nurture people who are tentatively taking their first steps on the spiritual journey or just fumbling for the map in their rucksack, as well as those who are a little more experienced on their walk with God.
Whirlow Spirituality Centre provides a sanctuary place for people to discover who they are meant to be in God’s economy. We aspire to be a place where people can be real about their spiritual journey, queries and quests. The Chapel of the Holy Spirit provides for many a space apart, a spiritual haven, a place of encounter and re-sourcing.
We offer a weekly contemplative Eucharist (9.45am Tuesdays), monthly Reflective Worship (7pm, 1st Sunday of the month, except January), library resource and on-going programme of courses and retreats for people from very different contexts and church backgrounds and denominations (or none). Delighting in the mystery of scripture and sacrament, word and wisdom, we offer accessible and life-giving ways to celebrate and engage in God’s good creation, Jesus’ unconditional love and the gift-giving and spiritual discernment of the Holy Spirit.
