The Sheffield Diocesan Board of Finance is a Registered Charity, number 245861. Further details of its objects, constitution and financial accounts can be found on the Charity Commission website.
The Board is also a company limited by guarantee, company number 196087 with the members of the Bishop’s Council as Directors.
The Diocesan Board of Finance aims to finance stipendiary ministry and fund the mission of the Church in this Diocese through the re-distribution of funding from Parish Share, the use of Church Commissioners’ selective allocation to the poorer Dioceses and the application of other resources and investment income wherever possible.
Parish Share is an approach to provide mutual support from those relatively wealth parishes to those with low income, often in areas of social deprivation, in order to ensure that the ministry of the Church is provided in every place.
The Board of Finance through its Business Committee, Bishop’s Council and Diocesan Synod agrees an annual expenditure budget. For 2010 the budget information has been provided as a leaflet circulated to all parishes.
