Last Updated on Monday, 17 September 2012 10:49
Consultancy and support in practice this means that Jenny is more than happy to meet with people in a parish to look at their work with children or even their desire to work with them and to help them to progress that vision. Support comes through visits to parishes, supporting events, leading All Age Worship, offerring tailor made training, developing Deanary Networks for children's leaders and Baptism visitors.

Children's Ministry Course
This course is an opportunity to gain a certificate in Children's ministry. The course is open to all involved in children's ministry in the Diocese of Sheffield and beyond. It is a portfolio based course of 3 modules with input, group work and craft.
Who is it for?
The course is for children's workers, voluntary and employed, working in church or church based projects, clergy and anyone serious about developing their ministry with children. There are no academic entry requirements, so the course is open to all and will be adapted to meet the requirements of course members.
MODULE 1: The Child
This module will consider development and theories of faith and spirituality in its many aspects. It will also look at the social issues and educational principles impacting on family life and school.
MODULE 2: The child and the Bible
This module explores the theological principles behind reading the Bible. It looks a the practical implications of theological and educational issues surrounding use of the Bible with children.... developing skills and evaluating available resources such as Scripture Union, Roots and Godly Play.
MODULE 3: The child and the Church
In this module there will be input on the Theology of the child and 'children and the Church', covering issues around children and communion, rites of passage, worship in the context of the wider church, collective worship in school, fresh expressions and messy church.
You must be regularly working with children in a church, school or community context and have a current, appropriate, CRB.
The course will be rooted in your current work with children. It will give you time to reflect on your practice, to read and study. You will produce a portfolio which will help develop that practice and show what you have learnt through the course. There will be opportunity to share with others in observation, evaluation and reflection within the course.
The course will be held at Church House 95 - 99 Effingham Street, Rotherham S65 1BL starting October 17th 2012. It is important that your parish or school where you practice your children's ministry are prepared to support you. Cost £120 for the whole course. Ideally this should be paid by your church or school.
Course flier and application form can both be downloaded from this page. Completed forms should be sent to Trish Stafford - details on the form.
