Major Incident Plan
South Yorkshire Churches Major Incident Plan
Last Updated on Thursday, 23 September 2010 09:28
The South Yorkshire Churches Major Incident Plan is an ecumenical partnership between the Church, local authorities and South Yorkshire Police to provide Christian volunteers, clergy and lay, to work alongside others in the event of a major incident in the area.
Apart from being on hand to provide appropriate spiritual and pastoral support our volunteers are trained to work with others from the voluntary sector in:
- Supporting survivors and relatives in reception centres by finding and providing information
- Accompanying relatives to hospital and the mortuary
- Supporting the Social Service administrative system
- Other duties as part of an integrated system
The Major Incident Plan is administered from Church House, which will become our Control Centre in the event of a call-out.
If you would like more information, or if you are interested in becoming a volunteer under the Plan, please call the Faith and Justice Office (01709 309133)
