Archdeacon: Martyn Snow
Martyn has been Archdeacon of Sheffield and Rotherham since April 2010. His work involves supporting and encouraging the churches and Christian communities of the area to enable them to fulfil their vision.
Previously he was vicar of Pitsmoor in Sheffield (probably the most culturally diverse parish in this Diocese) and Area Dean of Ecclesfield.
Martyn has travelled extensively. Born in Indonesia, he also worked in West Africa where he was vicar of one of the oldest churches in that part of the continent and involved in youth work across the diocese.
Martyn’s real passion is Christian mission. He is vice-chair of trustees for the Church Mission Society and teaches regularly on cross-cultural mission. He believes his work as Archdeacon is all about releasing Christians to be a part of God's mission in their local community, their work place and their social life.
He has written two Grove booklets: Coaching in the Church (Leadership and Growing the Skills of Those Around You); and Leading Change in the Church (and Involving Everyone in the Process).
Martyn is married to Lynn (a Paediatrician) and they have three young children.
