Come together on Sunday 4th June to celebrate Pentecost
4th June 2017
Join with Sheffield city centre churches for the Cathedral's Pentecost Street Party and Beacon Event
From 3pm-5:30pm Sheffield Cathedral forecourt will come alive with the sounds of local choirs and bands, with circus performers and activities for children and families. The Cathedral will be open so all are welcome to come in, explore and visit the Lost and Found Exhibition.
From 5:30pm-7pm the Cathedral will then host a Beacon event for Thy Kingdom Come.
Churches, families, friends, and neighbours from across Sheffield and beyond are invited to gather together at Sheffield Cathedral to worship and to pray.
Our Beacon event is one of ten occurring across the UK between 25th May and 4th June and is part of the wider Thy Kingdom Come global prayer movement, which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for people to come to know Jesus Christ.
What started out as an invitation from the Archbishops’ of Canterbury and York in 2016 to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.
We hope that people will commit to pray with God’s world-wide family and will be empowered through prayer by the Holy Spirit, finding new confidence to be witnesses for Jesus Christ.
The street party is free to attend and no registration is required.
The Beacon event is also free but places are limited and so you will need to register for a ticket. Ticketing details are available here. The service will also be relayed onto the forecourt for those without tickets.
