Bar - Quiz - Light Bites Grant Sharp is a Sheffield man (not from the world of sport) who has a very encouraging down to earth story to tell of how when he was in the grip of alcohol and drug addiction was sought out by God and through a series of 'divine appointments' including a Benny Hill Angel, an ex 'bag lady' cum Christian sister, and a priest in Malta. He found faith and deliverance in Jesus and after training as a counsellor Grant now helps others who are themselves suffering from addictions to alcohol, drugs, etc. For further information please contact Rev Peter Allen mobile 07882131370, email prallen3@yahoo.co.uk or view ONSIDE website http://www.onsideevents.co.uk/
Small Town, Big Vision, 7–9 April The town of Keighley in West Yorkshire is a microcosm of contemporary Britain. In fact it’s a right mixture: on the one hand there is loss of identity, segregated communities, poverty and support for the BNP ... and on the other, developing interfaith relations, cross community initiatives and a re-emerging civic identity. As the churches struggle with ever dwindling congregations, how do Christians understand their calling and find motivation to move beyond a sheer survival mentality? Led by Jonathan Pritchard, a priest who serves two very different parishes in Keighley, will be joined by others whose ministry is rooted in the town. These few days will be for anyone who is keen to share both the experiences of their own ‘small town’ and some of the struggles and joys which make up their ministry. Price: £160 all-inclusive. For more information about the Scargill Community, please visit our website: www.scargillhouse.co.uk.
'Partners Together' will be hosting a farewell dinner for Bishop Jack and Judith, clergy and clergy spouses invited on 18th April. The price is £9. Please phone Jacquie Gardner on 01302 339618 for details by 11th April.
The Sheffield Youth Theatre will CLOSE after 30 years of activity if a new space cannot be secured for rehearsal and costume storage. The group’s newest play, “The New Day”, has been written in part to highlight their plight, and there are performances coming up which may be viewed to understand the group’s work, which seeks to teach youths skills and respect for themselves and others.
If you can help with space, PLEASE contact: Alan Padmore, Space Co-Ordinator, at 07926 083272!
