'Fiesta Latina' – South American Mission Society (SAMS) Sheffield Roadshow 17 May 2008 @ 7:00 - 10:00 pm
On the evening of Saturday 17 May, the church of St Polycarp’s, Malin Bridge, Sheffield, hosts a special SAMS event with food, Latin dancing and presentations on the work of God’s church in various South American countries. These include a live telephone link with Dr Andrew Leake, working for the Anglican social programme in Northern Argentina in the battle against deforestation of indigenous lands for growing soy for the European and Chinese markets. A joint choir from some churches in the South East of Sheffield will be performing ‘Saints Alive’ by Roger Jones on Friday 16th May 2008 @ 7:30pm at Emmanuel Church, Thorpe Drive, Waterthorpe, Sheffield. ‘Saints Alive’ sings the story of the birth of the Church on the day of Pentecost, which is one of the most thrilling accounts in the Bible, and one of the most relevant to life today. Admission only by Ticket: Only 120 tickets for each venue. There is no charge for tickets, but there will be an opportunity to give a donation on the night.

CRESST (Conflict Resolution Education in Sheffield Schools Training) works with any organisation working with children and young people. It does exactly what it's name says in providing training and resources to schools, both primary and secondary, to help young people to develop ways of resolving conflicts so that they do not end in violence of one sort or another! The skills they learn are invaluable in school and community. CRESST also trains peer mediators.
The morning will address conflict resolution awareness, develop skills to successfully manage your own conflict and also provide activities and ideas to educate and support young people
