Workshops

Title: Youth discipleship from scratch (morning and afternoon in the Training Centre)

Speaker: Church Army pioneer Andy Milne (https://www.freshexpressions.org.uk/category/speakers/Andy%20Milne)

Description: Learning from the ‘Sorted’ story – a Fresh Expression; working in partnership with groups of churches in Bradford to bring young people into Christian discipleship.


Title: Stimulating spiritual conversations (morning in the Teaching Hall; afternoon in the Chapel)

Speaker: Paul Griffiths and Sharon Lanfear, the Ugly Duckling Company (www.theuglyducklingcompany.com)

Description: How do we create (safe, appropriate, respectively, enjoyable) spaces and stimulate (spiritual, meaningful, Jesus) conversations with those who are well outside the life of the local church. Paul and Sharon bring wide experience of helping churches and Christians find practical ways to do this.


Title: Making the most of Hope 2018

Speaker: Rachel Jordan-Wolf, our keynote speaker

Description: Rachel will either being unpacking the implications of her keynote talk in a very practical way with particular reference to next year’s Hope 2018. 


Title: Reaching over-60s (morning in the Chapel, afternoon in the upper room in the main venue)

Speaker: John Marsh & Janet Dakin (practitioners on the Diocesan Resource Group for Seniors)

Description: Janet will describe a variety of ways an ordinary parish church has found to interact with this age group. John will describe how combating isolation by creating community can open up opportunities to share the good news of Jesus.

Note: This afternoon workshop is running in an upper room & involves stairs. Those who cannot access this workshop should endeavour to book into the morning session. We will aim to video this workshop if demand exceeds places.


Title: Godly Play taster session (morning only, in the upper room in the main venue)

Speaker: Kathryn Lord (nationally qualified Godly Play trainer and practitioner: www.godlyplay.uk)

Description: You will experience a session of Godly Play and also learn how it can be used with different age groups.

Note: This workshop is running in an upper room & involves stairs. Those who cannot access this workshop can still discover Godly Play in the marketplace in the afternoon workshop slot.

Description: A popular, free course in faith-sharing for groups. At the heart of it is identifying a simple word-picture that says something about a person’s faith journey. Features Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and comedian Milton Jones.

Description: Brief introduction to Table Talk, Puzzling Questions, the Happiness Lab, etc.

Description: A new 4-week course designed to help you make life-long positive choices, based around New Year Resolutions; a great way to follow on from Christmas services.

Description: Ideas to reach the 95% of children and young people not in church through sports and in schools.


Title: Guardians of Ancora (afternoon only)

Description: Using the SU resource ‘Guardians of Ancora’ at home, in church and at school.


Title: Reaching young adults (morning only)

Description: Insights into how we can be effective in reaching people in their 20s & 30s, a group missing from many churches.
