CMD: Continuing Ministerial Development
CMD is Continuing Ministerial Development mainly for clergy and licensed lay ministers who have completed their first post after ordination or licensing. However the events in the diocese are open to any who wish to come and can be accessed on this site on the 'Courses page

Day Conferences on a range of themes configured under the three headings of

Chapter Residentials with the Bishops which include reflection, relaxation and prayer at Whirlow Grange
Induction Days at Church House for those ministers who have recently arrived in the Diocese.
North East Regional Conferences for Supervising Incumbents and Area Deans
CMD Grants of £200 per annum for clergy and stipendiary lay ministers towards the cost of an annual retreat and a CMD event provided beyond the Diocese
Sabbaticals: Grants of £800 for three months OR £400 for a shorter period of between a month and three months. The maximum number of grants is relative to the equivalent of 6 x £800 grants.
Postgraduate Studies: 4 Grants of £750 per year subject to Episcopal approval.
Mid Ministry Course: from September 2008 we hope to offer clergy with 10 or more years of public ministry the opportunity of joining with Methodist colleagues of equivalent experience to pilot a Mid Ministry Course. The course will include modules on Biblical Studies, Theology, Ministry & Mission, Theology in Practice and a Dissertation. There will be six places for each denomination and the course will be routed through the Urban Theology Unit and validated by the University College of York St John. The course can be taken at M level or at level 3 (BA hons) or audited if there are particular circumstances suggesting this.
