The Church Urban Fund exists to fund urban community projects
that support people on the margins of society. Through its work
it enables local workers to tackle the effects of poverty and
transform their neighbourhoods.
The Diocese of Sheffield, on behalf
of Christian churches of all denominations in South Yorkshire,
has a long and successful
relationship with the Church Urban Fund. Between 1988 and 2007
the Fund has awarded to projects within the area of the Diocese
of Sheffield a total of £2,774,625.
The Church Urban Fund
asks that applicants work within the urban strategy of the
Diocese. This can be summed up as:
The Diocese of Sheffield will assess all
grant applications through its ecumenical panel and advise projects
about how best to approach their funding needs. The panel will
in turn advise the Bishop as he considers each application. To
make an application, you will need to contact the Faith & Justice
Office (01709 309133) and speak to Julia Alder (Administrator)
or Mike Wagstaff (CUF Link Officer).
