posted: Thursday 5 November 2009

First Past the Post!Congratulations to Denise Cryer and Patrick White who will be the first Readers from the Diocesan School of Ministry to complete the University of York St John Foundation Degree in Theology and Ministry. They graduate in York Minster on Thursday 12th November. Readers are lay ministers who work with clergy in the parishes to take further the work of the church particularly in areas of learning and mission. Denise and Patrick have spent 4 years part time study at Wilson Carlile Campus in Sheffield. At present the School of Ministry has 78 people training to be Readers, Pastoral Workers, Parish Evangelists and Worship Leaders. Anyone interested in lay ministry should talk to their vicar and come to a Count Me In event either on Thursday 21st January 2010 from 7-9.00pm or Saturday 23rd January 2010 from 10-12noon to chat about what the training involves.
